Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Tuesday revisited the June 12, 1993 presidential election, describing its annulment as a robbery. Ribadu, who spoke in Lagos at the public presentation of a book, Diary of a debacle: Tracking Nigeria’s failed democratic transition (1989-1994), written by a literary scholar, Dr. Olatunji Dare, said annulment of the polls won by the late Basorun MKO Abiola amounts to political corruption.

A Nigerian woman has died in the United States of America of suspected cardiac arrest.Chinwe Ogbonna, 47, had been visiting the Potomac, Maryland, home of former Abia State governor, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, along with other friends, when she suffered what was believed to be a heart seizure. 2011: S-east, S-south leaders forge alliance   (Daily Sun-Nigeria,20/08/2010)

Dead woman sells own plot of land 8 years after death   (Daily Sun-Nigeria,16/08/2010)

The Nigeria Police (Force CID) Alagbon, Lagos has begun a manhunt for a Lagos-based legal practitioner (name withheld) and some others, wanted over alleged illegal sale of a landed property belonging to Late Mrs. Francisca Adeoti Awolaja. The Late Mrs. Awolaja, former principal of Holy Child College, Lagos, who died in London on April 14, 1993, was a holder of landed property, with Lagos State C of O No. 63/63/19895) in respect of plot 19 Block 42 Lekki Pennisula Scheme One


It was indeed a black Sunday yesterday, as over 40 persons perished in a multiple road accident, on the bridge opposite Otedola Estate, near Berger Bus-Stop, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The accident occurred between 10am and 11 am. Among the dead were a five-year-old child and his mother, whose charred bodies were still trapped in the wreckage when Daily Sun visited the scene. Also, a little boy, who was in a Mercedes Benz car with his parents, was killed.


It was double tragedy for one of the communities in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government of Abia State as a pastor with one of the orthodox churches has died as a result of the death of his wife in the hands of kidnappers. According to information made available to Daily Sun by a native of the village, who did not want his name in print for fear of being attacked, gunmen, believed to be kidnappers, had in June this year, abducted the wife of the pastor said to be in her 70s.


Peacekeeping: Jonathan angry over loss of soldiers   (Daily Sun-Nigeria,03/08/2010)
